Two projects of ASOIU “eazi START” Startup and Innovation Center became the winners of the grant competition announced by the State Fund for Development of Information Technologies under the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies.
Projects on the development of e-services, improvement of infrastructure and innovative solutions were submitted for the grant competition. General Reporting Platform (GRP), a reporting platform about the progress of classes and exams in schools and universities, and CamTouch, an installation that enables to transform any flat surface into a smart board, of the students of ASOIU “eazi START” Startup and Innovation Center received a grant of 11.000 and 12.000 AZN, accordingly.
Notably, in 2016, ASOIU's 3 projects - Magic Words, Smart Keyboard, Comfortab - were granted 15.000, 12.000 and 10.000 AZN, respectively.
Overall 172 projects were submitted for the fifth grant competition. 150 out of them successfully passed the stage of preliminary examination and were admitted to the stage of comprehensive expert examination. At this stage, 71 out of 150 projects received favorable reviews.
Based on the results of the voting of the Supervisory Board members, it was decided to finance 21 out of 71 startup projects. The total amount of grants allocated for the implementation of 21 projects made up 242.000 AZN.
It should be reminded that, operating under ASOIU as a startup school and business incubator, “eazi START” Startup and Innovation Center was founded in late 2015. The Center held its first trainings in January 2016. Business incubators “Sikorsky Challenge” (Ukraine) and “BeNextIT” (Israel) took active part in the development of startup school, realization of trainings, conduction of activities with students as being partner companies. On June 30, “eazi START” startup school held its first graduation festival at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU). 15 startup projects were presented at the festival.
