On February 26, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) hosted a roundtable discussion on the 32nd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, under the auspices of the Department of Humanitarian Disciplines.
During the event, attended by academic staff and students, Professor Irada Nuriyeva and Associate Professors Yashar Ahmadov, Tahir Jafiyev, and Narmina Amirbayova from the department spoke about the history and statistics of the Khojaly genocide, as well as the brutality inflicted by Armenian forces. They emphasized the importance of never forgetting the Khojaly genocide, a significant part of our historical memory, and highlighted the necessity of conveying the truths of Khojaly to the global community.
It was noted during the speeches that Azerbaijan has systematically worked for many years to bring international attention to the Khojaly genocide. As a result of the "Justice for Khojaly" campaign initiated by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, in 2008, the atrocities committed against Azerbaijanis in Khojaly have been brought to the attention of the international community.
