On March 1, a ceremony was held at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) to celebrate World Civil Defense Day.

The event, attended by the vice-rectors and academic staff of ASOIU, featured remarks from Elshan Mammadov, head of Civil Defense Headquarters, who spoke about the importance of the topic and provided information to the participants about the history of World Civil Defense Day.

During the speeches, attention was drawn to the importance of civil defense in Azerbaijan, including at ASOIU, emphasizing its role in safeguarding lives and ensuring security.

The purpose of observing this day annually is to draw public attention to the importance and vitality of civil defense and to appropriately acknowledge the work and sacrifices made by civil defense personnel. Civil defense organizations play a crucial role in protecting the population and ensuring their readiness for emergencies.

It should be noted that World Civil Defense Day is observed annually as a significant humanitarian event, commemorating the founding of the World Civil Defense Organization in 1972. Azerbaijan joined this influential international organization in 1993.
