Agreement signed between ASOIU and AzMI for the establishment of "AzMI Academy"

On May 17, the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) hosted the opening ceremony of the 5th International Scientific-Practical Symposium dedicated to "Accurate Measurement for a Sustainable Green World," held within the framework of the "Green World Solidarity Year" and in celebration of "World Metrology Day". As part of the symposium, a memorandum of understanding was signed between ASOIU and the Azerbaijan Institute of Metrology (AzMI) to establish the "AzMI Academy."

Following the playing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

In his welcoming address, the Acting Rector of ASOIU, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov, greeted the participants and noted that President Ilham Aliyev's declaration of 2024 as the "Green World Solidarity Year" and Azerbaijan's hosting of COP29 had led to extensive and significant initiatives in this direction. Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov highlighted the various events, including conferences and symposiums, organized by ASOIU throughout the year, and emphasized the university's close cooperation with the Azerbaijan Institute of Metrology, the Azerbaijan Institute of Standardization, and the Azerbaijan Accreditation Center, all under the Anti-Monopoly and Consumer Market Control State Service of the Ministry of Economy. He expressed that the agreement to establish the "AzMI Academy" within the symposium would be a significant step towards fostering joint collaboration in the development of innovative educational solutions and wished success to the symposium.

Following this, an agreement was signed between ASOIU and the Azerbaijan Institute of Metrology to establish the "AzMI Academy."

In his speech, Khamis Seyranov, Head of the State Control Department for Natural Monopolies of the Anti-Monopoly and Consumer Market Control State Service, spoke about the activities of the organization he represents and its successful cooperation with ASOIU. He noted that several successful joint projects had been implemented within this cooperation and expressed confidence that the establishment of the "AzMI Academy" would play a special role in the new phase of this collaboration, particularly in the development of metrology infrastructure.

Mustafa Cetintas, Director of the National Metrology Institute of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TUBITAK UME), and Ramiz Hamid, Deputy Director of TUBITAK UME, who joined the conference online, spoke about the significance of the symposium and extended their congratulations on the establishment of the "AzMI Academy."

Finally, Professor Lala Bakirova, Head of the Instrumentation Engineering Department at ASOIU and co-chair of the symposium discussed the role and importance of the International Symposium in the construction of a green world. The symposium saw the participation of nearly 50 online attendees from Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Russia, Portugal, France, and other countries.

The symposium continued with presentations on topics such as the present and future of metrology for a green world, new approaches to mechatronics engineering in green world concepts, green technologies in modern measurements, and more.
