ASOIU students participate in the "Supporting the Socio-Economic Activity of Youth with Disabilities" project

Two students from Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) – Subhan Ibadov (Faculty of Information Technology and Control) and Sabira Nagizade (Faculty of Geological Exploration) – are taking part in the project "Supporting the Socio-Economic Activity of Youth with Disabilities".
The project under the Students' Acceleration Program (SAP), jointly implemented by the DOST Agency, UNICEF Azerbaijan, and the State Employment Agency, which began on March 15, 2024, involves students and graduates from nearly 20 universities, as well as professional trainers and the project team. Focus group discussions, mentorship meetings, and networking sessions have been held under the project framework.
During the motivational and socialization events, interactive and intellectual games were conducted, alongside communication and collaboration exercises aimed at enhancing teamwork skills. Participants engaged in interactive tasks that fostered interpersonal relationships, organizational skills, emotional intelligence, analytical thinking, and conflict management.
Meetings are being held with interested organizations to discuss job vacancies, internship programs, and training opportunities while explaining the project’s goals, significance, and role.
It should be noted that the project, launched in October 2023, is implemented under UNICEF's "Country programme document for Azerbaijan" and based on the "2023-2024 Periodic Action Plan for Social Protection and Child Protection" signed between UNICEF Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population. The goal is to support young people with disabilities in acquiring job skills aligned with labour market demands, increasing their employment opportunities, and creating relevant internship opportunities.
