On October 30, the next session of the Academic Board was held at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU). Acting Rector, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov, opened the meeting by announcing the agenda items to board members, which were then approved.
Discussing the current state of teaching and education at the university, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov noted that the midterm exams had been satisfactorily conducted. He instructed deans to further strengthen exam supervision and ensure fair assessment of student knowledge. Additionally, V.Asgarov highlighted ASOIU’s recent achievements in international rankings, noting that the university has made significant progress in several areas according to the latest results released by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) analytical agency. He emphasized the importance of collective efforts in pursuing even greater achievements in this area.
In line with the agenda, reports were presented on the academic load planned for the 2023/2024 academic year and staffing plans for faculty and teaching support personnel for 2024/2025 by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Associate Professor Gasim Mammadov, and Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, Professor Latafat Gardashova, who also reported on the activities of dissertation councils and admissions results for doctoral studies for the 2024/2025 academic year.
The Dean of the Geological Exploration Faculty, Associate Professor Namad Pashayev, gave a report on the faculty’s activities. Following this, Scientific Secretary, Associate Professor Narmina Aliyeva, provided information on candidates seeking scientific titles of Professor and Associate Professor, whose documents are to be submitted to the Higher Attestation Commission (HIC).
After reviewing the achievements and ongoing work, the Academic Board deemed the progress satisfactory and adopted several key decisions, including the approval of the structure and regulations of the Career Center and the regulations of the Internal Quality Assurance Center.
Concluding the meeting, Acting Rector Vazeh Asgarov informed board members about the instruction on the periodic evaluation of educational programs and shared his feedback and recommendations, outlining steps to address any shortcomings and issuing directives for upcoming tasks.
