On January 26, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) hosted the presentation of the innovative project "Azerbaijan’s Highly Cultured Citizen" and organized the first scientific readings on cultural studies within the initiative.
Implemented by the Simurg Azerbaijan Culture Association with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the project aims to contribute to the realization of the country’s new socio-cultural strategy.
As part of the project, specialized masterclasses, lectures, and training sessions will be held for six target groups, including government officials, educators, journalists, museum and library workers, youth and women’s NGOs, and healthcare professionals. This strategy seeks to elevate the moral, intellectual, and ethical culture of Azerbaijani society.
During the event, Prof. Fuad Mammadov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, professor at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and President of theSimurg Azerbaijan Culture Association, delivered a masterclass. He presented over 100 slides reflecting universal knowledge on cultural studies accumulated over 35 years, including key concepts and models.
Additionally, Prof. Minikhanim Asadli, Doctor of Historical Sciences and a member of the Azerbaijan Cultural Scholars Society, gave a lecture on Azerbaijani scholars' contributions to global cultural studies. A separate training session, led by Assoc. Prof. Ramazan Shabanov, PhD in Philosophy, focused on the history of political culture, governance, and public administration culture.
The project is coordinated by Leyla Hajiyeva, the Executive Secretary of the Presidium of the Simurg Azerbaijan Culture Association, and is set to expand beyond Baku to other regions of Azerbaijan.
Participants will enhance their intellectual potential by gaining new scientific insights into culture, civilization, and cultural studies. The program also covers cultural values, professional ethics, responsibility, legal and political culture, environmental awareness, and the role of culture in sustainable development.
Upon successful completion, participants will receive the "Azerbaijan’s Highly Cultured Citizen" certificate and a copy of the new cultural studies monograph "The Highly Cultured Human", published by Simurg Azerbaijan Culture Association.
