On February 5, the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) hosted another training session on the effective use of the Google Scholar platform. The session was conducted by Shamil Ahmadov, a specialist from ASOIU’s Science and Education Analytical Center’s Strategy and Promotion sector, with the aim of enhancing academic and research activities. Faculty members and researchers received detailed guidance on maximizing the benefits of this valuable tool.
During the training, participants learned about creating a Google Scholar account, searching for articles on the platform, updating their profiles, and properly citing scientific works.
The main goal of the training was to help participants conduct their academic research more efficiently and improve access to scientific knowledge. A key focus of the session was developing researchers' ability to track their own work and connect with other scholars. Special attention was given to citation tracking and building an academic profile on Google Scholar, enabling users to monitor the impact of their research and explore collaboration opportunities with scholars from various fields.
Google Scholar not only allows students and researchers to stay updated on the latest developments in their respective fields but also provides opportunities to engage with broader scientific communities. This contributes to increased citations of academic work and the expansion of professional networks in the scientific domain.
The role of Google Scholar in education and research significantly contributes to the enhancement of ASOIU’s academic environment. Regularly organizing such training sessions will further encourage both students and faculty members to take an active role in the scientific world and facilitate the wider dissemination of the university’s research on a global scale.
