On February 28, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) held an event dedicated to World Civil Defense Day.

The event was attended by ASOIU’s vice-rectors, faculty members, and staff. Head of the Civil Defense Headquarters, Elshan Mammadov, spoke about the importance of civil defense and provided attendees with insights into the history of this significant day.

During the discussions, speakers highlighted the attention given to civil defense in Azerbaijan, including at ASOIU. The crucial role of civil defense in ensuring public safety and protecting human lives was also emphasized.

It should be noted that World Civil Defense Day has been observed annually since 1972 as a global humanitarian initiative, marking the establishment of the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO). Azerbaijan became a member of this prestigious international organization in 1993.
