Student ID cards of the University of Strasbourg presented to UFAZ students

A ceremony was held on October 27 to present student ID cards of the University of Strasbourg to first-year students of the Azerbaijani-French University (UFAZ), functioning under Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU).

The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of the Republic of France to Azerbaijan Mrs. Aurelia Bouchez, Rector of ASOIU Professor Mustafa Babanli, Deputy Vice-President of the University of Strasbourg for International Relations Philippe Turek, Director of the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Strasbourg Jean-Marc Planeix, as well as representatives of French companies operating in our country.

Opening the event, UFAZ Executive Director Vazeh Asgarov and General Secretary Charlotte Payen greeted the guests and informed the attendees about UFAZ. A video prepared by UFAZ student and featuring the activity of the university was then demonstrated.

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, A. Bouchez spoke about the foundation of the UFAZ project, initiated by the Azerbaijani and French presidents. A. Bouchez said the university is the same as the University of Strasbourg and was created on the basis of the same pedagogical training materials, pointing at the students as being its driving force. She also added that obtaining student ID cards will put UFAZ students on the same level as French ones.

Rector of ASOIU Professor M. Babanli said the ceremony, which is already organized at UFAZ for the second time, is the first steps of students on the path leading to success. Rector M. Babanli expressed his belief that along with the Azerbaijani side, the University of Strasbourg will also make its contributions to the activities of UFAZ. Noting that from now on UFAZ students will possess the same dividends as the students of Strasbourg, Rector, Professor M. Babanli congratulated the students on this occasion. Speaking about innovations to be realized at UFAZ, Rector, Professor M. Babanli emphasized that two new laboratories will be available for students as of November 7.

Greeting the participants on behalf of the Rector of the University of Strasbourg, Director of the Faculty of Chemistry J. Planeix said together with the staff that he represents they are eager to contribute to the training process and further development of UFAZ.

Student ID cards of the University of Strasbourg were then presented to UFAZ students. Five students of UFAZ, who took the 1st place in the intellectual game What? Where? When? were awarded at the event. UFAZ students performed a French song at the end of the ceremony.
