High-level scientific seminar held at ASOIU in honor of Science Day

On April 7, a high-level scientific seminar dedicated to Science Day was held at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), bringing together young researchers and doctoral students.

Opening the seminar, ASOIU’s Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, Professor Latafat Gardashova, addressed the participants and spoke about recent national-level decisions aimed at advancing the scientific field. She highlighted the approval of the Artificial Intelligence Strategy and emphasized the importance of focusing on emerging scientific directions and pressing challenges. Professor Gardashova noted that ASOIU has created favorable conditions for developing the scientific potential of future researchers and encouraged young scholars to actively benefit from these opportunities.

The seminar, moderated by the Head of the Doctoral Studies Department, Associate Professor Zulfugar Ibrahimli, featured research presentations by doctoral students on a wide range of innovative topics, including: "Enhancing Oil Field Development Efficiency through Magnetic Field Application" – Elnur Alizade; "Desulfurization of Vacuum Gas Oil in the Presence of Ozone" – Khamis Abiyev; "Development of a Floating, Level-Adjustable Offshore Wind Turbine Platform" – Mahmud Ismayilov; "Semantic-Based XAI: Leveraging Ontology Properties to Enhance Explainability" – Pavel Kosov; "AI and Decision-Making: Reshaping Organizational Strategies" – Alish Nazarov; "Using Zadeh’s Implication for Approximate Reasoning" – Shamil Ahmadov. Each presenter responded to questions from the audience, and discussions followed the sessions.

Associate Professor Zulfugar Ibrahimli emphasized the importance of timely dissertation defense and assured doctoral students of the department’s support in resolving any research-related challenges.

Concluding the seminar, Professor Latafat Gardashova provided practical recommendations for conducting scientific research and preparing publications. She reminded participants of the publication requirements set by the Supreme Attestation Commission and encouraged them to prioritize recent scientific literature, apply modern technologies and approaches, and align their innovations with contemporary scientific standards.

The seminar concluded with a Q&A session, where doctoral students received further guidance on their academic pursuits.
