An event on “Development of non-oil sector and civil society” within the frames of the project “Rendering services to NGOs for institutional development”, organized by the Azerbaijan National Non-Governmental Organizations Forum (NNF) with financial support of the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the Auspices of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) on November 23.
Opening the event, ASOIU Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, Associate Professor Ata Babayev greeted the participants and noted the significance of the event. Saying that the activities conducted and a series of events organized for the formation of a civil society are the clear example of the Head of state's attention and care, Associate Professor A. Babayev stressed that ASOIU attaches particular importance to the organization of such events.
Later, NNF President Rauf Zeyni spoke about the history, objectives, and activities of the National NGO Forum. Providing attendees with extensive information on the history and significance of the civil society, concept of the non-governmental organization, volunteering movement, R. Zeyni noted that transformation of our country into an international center for sports, commerce, culture, and dialogues, implementation of international projects from Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan to Baku-Tbilisi-Kars ensuring the future of our country, Azerbaijan being one of Europe's energy security providers prove that it has become the strongest leading state in the region. It is for this reason that each citizen and young person should strive to be the worthy citizen of his/her country. In conclusion, R. Zeyni expressed his gratitude to the university management for the support to realize the event.
