Rector of ASOIU meets with Ambassador of People’s Republic of China to our country

Rector of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), Professor Mustafa Babanli met on November 30 with Wei Jinghua, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to our country.

At the meeting featuring discussions about education and cooperation relations between China and Azerbaijan, the sides talked about Chinese students studying at ASOIU, attracting them to learning at the university, and other issues. Expressing satisfaction with welcoming the ambassador at the university, Rector, Professor M. Babanli informed the ambassador about Chinese students currently studying at ASOIU. Saying that the university has raised 570 Chinese specialists until 2000, Rector, Professor M. Babanli noted that there are 26 undergraduate and 22 postgraduate students from China who receive education at ASOIU at the present time. M. Babanli underlined that 1 of them is a freshman, 2 are sophomores, 7 are juniors and 14 are senior students. ASOIU is ready to accept Chinese students in the future, a number of steps are being taken to attract new students, a new dormitory in line with modern standards will go into operation to improve their education and living conditions, Rector M. Babanli said, stressing the importance of building new laboratories and developing the cooperation with China in technological areas.  

Ambassador Wei Jinghua said his country has always attached importance to cooperation with educational institutions, expressing his contentment with cooperation with ASOIU. The ambassador emphasized that ASOIU will always be in demand as a university that has trained a great number of Chinese staff in oil and technology.

At the end of the meeting, the guest was given a memory gift.

Then, the guest became acquainted with the ASOIU History Museum and Lecture hall. Ambassador Wei Jinghua visited the Azerbaijani-French University functioning under ASOIU and expressed interest in the training process there.
