Students’ Scientific and Technical Conference starts its work at ASOIU

The Students’ 66th Scientific and Technical Conference dedicated to the 135th anniversary of the prominent scientist Agha Akhundov started its work at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University on December 5.

The opening ceremony was attended by ASOIU Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli, Central Asia Country President at Schneider Electric Emrah Tekdemir, Schneider Electric’s Turkey, Iran and Central Asia Cluster President Bora Tuncer, Agha Akhundov’s niece Naila Akhundova, academic staff members and students of the university.  

Opening the event, ASOIU Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli noted the significance of the Students’ 66th Scientific and Technical Conference. Stressing the importance of the participation in such conferences in order to reveal the scientific potential of students, Rector M. Babanli said that some papers can be expanded and turned into a successful startup project in the future.

Deputy Dean for Innovation and International Relations of ASOIU’s Faculty of Power Engineering Orkhan Karimzada delivered a presentation about life and activity of the prominent scientist, Professor Agha Akhundov. Informing about Agha Akhundov’s activities both in Azerbaijan and abroad, O. Karimzade also highlighted that the prominent scientist was the founder and first dean of ASOIU’s Power Engineering Faculty.

Central Asia Country President at Schneider Electric Emrah Tekdemir thanked Rector, Prof Mustafa Babanli for the invitation to the Scientific and Technical Conference. Informing the conference participants about the company that he represents, Emrah Tekdemir noted that relations between ASOIU and Schneider Electric are of particular importance for both sides.

Dean of the Faculty of Geological Exploration, Associate Professor Namad Pashayev emphasized that, over the last years, ASOIU has been attaching special attention to the development of scientific sphere and training of students dealing with serious research.

Invited to the event as a guest, Agha Akhundov’s niece Naila Akhundova expressed her gratitude to ASOIU Rector, Professor M. Babanli and the entire university management for such attention. Sharing her memories about Agha Akhundov, N. Akhundova said he was a professional engineer, skilled energy worker, as well as a great family head.

Addressing the conference, Chairman of the Council of Student Scientific Societies, Associate Professor Yunis Gahramanli provided information on meetings and speeches to be held in separate sections of the conference. Y. Gahramanli stated that overall 336 people will deliver speeches in 9 sections and wished success to participants.

The conference then continued its work in different sections.

Notably, the closing ceremony of the Students’ 66th Scientific and Technical Conference will take place on December 11.
