On December 26 Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) with the organization of the Student Trade Union Committee held a meeting with the People’s Artist Alim Gasimov on the occasion of the upcoming World Azerbaijanis’ Solidarity Day and New Year.

ASOIU Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli expressed satisfaction with seeing Azerbaijan’s eminent mugham singer at the university. Rector, Professor M. Babanli congratulated the attendees on the upcoming World Azerbaijanis’ Solidarity Day and New Year 2018 and expressed his warmest wishes to everyone.

Delivering a speech after the demonstration of the video about A. Gasimov prepared by ASOIU students, People’s artist said he was proud and pleased to be at ASOIU, one of the venerable higher education institutions of Azerbaijan with affluent educational traditions. The mugham singer noted that the meeting with ASOIU students is of particular significance to him and congratulated all participants of the event on the occasion of the upcoming World Azerbaijanis’ Solidarity Day and New Year.

The People’s artist sang mugham pieces, spoke about the subtleties of mugham and answered students’ questions. Alim Gasimov said he was content with interacting with young people. Then the notable mugham singer was given memory gifts on behalf of the university.

The event continued with ASOIU song and dance ensemble “Ganjlik” presenting national dances “Azerbaijani suit” and “Shali-shali” and students Nargiz Umarova and Jamila Nasirzade performing with music works.
