On January 26 Rector of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), Professor Mustafa Babanli held a meeting with Mekan Ishanguliyev, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan.
The meeting featured discussions about friendship and cooperation ties between the two countries, in particular, mutual cooperation directions in the field of education.
Expressing satisfaction with seeing the guest at the university, ASOIU Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli highlighted the significance of developing the relations as a higher education institution. Informing the guests about the history, international cooperation ties, foreign students and training process of ASOIU, Rector M. Babanli said that 108 Turkmen students are currently enrolled at ASOIU. Rector M. Babanli expressed his interest in establishing long-lasting cooperation with the leading universities of the world and stated that he attaches particular importance to both student exchange and other cooperation ties with Turkmenistan in this context.
Expressing contentment with being at ASOIU, Ambassador M. Ishanguliyev treated Azerbaijan not only as a neighboring state but also as a brother country that shares the same roots with Turkmenistan. Ambassador M. Ishanguliyev said he was interested in the development of the cooperation between ASOIU and Turkmen universities and added that he will always support the involvement of students in the university, as well as in any other areas.
At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador met with Turkmen students of ASOIU.
