ASOIU holds roundtable “Turkmenistan – Heart of Great Silk Road”

On March 7 Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University held a roundtable titled “Turkmenistan Heart of Great Silk Road”.

Representatives of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Azerbaijan, academic staff and Turkmen students of ASOIU took part in the roundtable.

ASOIU Vice-Rector for International Relations, Associate Professor Rafig Jamalov underlined the significance of the event, highlighting that such meetings demonstrate the friendly relationship between the two countries.

First Secretary of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Azerbaijan Batir Rajabov said 2018 has been declared as the year “Turkmenistan Heart of Great Silk Road” by the order of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Batir Rajabor noted that the Great Silk Road has a very big strategic significance which plays a key role in the execution of economic, social projects and energy strategy. The diplomat also spoke about big projects implemented together with neighbor countries.

Head of the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering, Professor Tulparkhan Salavatov gave information about great economic projects realized in Azerbaijan in the years of independence, as well as the cooperation ties with Turkmenistan.

Attaché of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Azerbaijan Atamurat Ballibayev informed about the TAPI project that his country is implementing together with Afghanistan, India and Pakistan, stressing that this project is of great importance for peace and development among states.

Dean of the Foreign Students Office of ASOIU, Candidate of Technical Sciences Yashar Hasanov provided information on Turkmen students enrolled in the university. Pointing at the role of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Azerbaijan in the recruitment of Turkmen students for ASOIU, Hasanov emphasized that the level of knowledge of students is quite high.

ASOIU student from Turkmenistan Azat Tyashliyev delivered a speech about the topic at the roundtable.

In conclusion, attendees received answers to their questions.
