IAUP Baku 2018 semi-annual meeting kicks off

Arrived in Baku for the Baku 2018 semi-annual meeting of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP), university rectors and other guests came together on April 18 on the first evening of the conference at Fairmont Hotel.     

The opening ceremony featured welcome speeches of ASOIU Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli, ASOIU professor, MP Huseynbala Miralamov, IAUP President Kakha Shengelia, IAUP Secretary Gerald Reisinger.

The welcoming ceremony was followed by an unofficial part with networking of guests and discussion of cooperation prospects.   

The two-day Conference of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) titled “Globalization and New Dimensions in Higher Education” will kick off in Baku on April 19. Up to 60 rectors and other esteemed guests from some 20 countries, including Russia, the USA, Iran, Georgia, India, Poland, China, France, Mexico, Austria, Denmark, Ukraine and other countries are expected to attend the Conference. 

The International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) is an international organization of university chief executives from higher education institutions around the world. IAUP was founded in 1965. Membership is limited to those individuals who serve as presidents, rectors or vice-chancellors at regionally accredited colleges or universities. It is a non-governmental organization holding consultation rights at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
