On April 19 participants of the two-day Conference of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) titled “Globalization and New Dimensions in Higher Education” hosted in Baku by Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) visited the grave of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev at the Alley of Honors and paid respect to his memory. Participants also put flowers at the grave of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva. The guests then visited the Martyrs’ Lane to pay tribute to heroic sons and daughters who gave their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. They laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame monument.
Notably, the Conference is attended by up to 60 rectors and other esteemed guests from some 20 countries, including Russia, the USA, Iran, Georgia, India, Poland, China, France, Mexico, Austria, Denmark, Ukraine and other countries.
The International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) is an international organization of university chief executives from higher education institutions around the world. IAUP was founded in 1965. Membership is limited to those individuals who serve as presidents, rectors or vice-chancellors at regionally accredited colleges or universities. It is a non-governmental organization holding consultation rights at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
