UFAZ Executive Director awarded medal of French National Assembly

On May 7, the Azerbaijani-French University (UFAZ) under Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) received former member of the French National Assembly, President of the Association of Friends of Azerbaijan in France Jean-François Mancel, Secretary General of the Association, Chairman of the Maison de l’Azerbaïdjan, Board member of the Congress of European Azerbaijanis Mirvari Fataliyeva and mayor of the city of Colmar Gilbert Meyer, who were on a visit in the country within the framework of “Let’s discover Azerbaijan” project.

During the meeting, UFAZ Executive Director, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov was awarded by President of the Association of Friends of Azerbaijan in France Jean-François Mancel medal of the French National Assembly for his services in expanding friendly relations between Azerbaijan and France. Notably, this medal is awarded to each newly elected member of the Assembly at the beginning of their legislature. This is a tradition dating back to the French Revolution. It is a document that distinguishes members of the Assembly from the public. Earlier made of tin, the medal is now made of silver and includes the name of each member of the Assembly. Some members present this medal from the boutique of the National Assembly to honor the person they have chosen.
