A meeting with first-year students in connection with the admission to SABAH groups for the 2018-2019 academic year was held at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) on May 18. ASOIU Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, Associate Professor Ata Babayev, Head of the Executive Committee of SABAH groups Shahin Seyidzade, Head of ASOIU’s SABAH groups Narmina Aliyeva, as well as faculty staff and students, attended the meeting.
Opening the event, ASOIU Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, Associate Professor Babayev spoke about the role SABAH groups play in improving the quality of training at the university and increasing the number of specialists meeting up-to-date requirements.
Head of the SABAH Executive Committee Shahin Seyidzade provided students with extensive information on SABAH groups. He spoke about selection and admission rules, scholarship requirements, education offers and other advantages of this project. Saying that SABAH groups had their first graduates in 2017, Seyidzade highlighted that out of 721 graduates, 37% and 16% were admitted to Master’s degree at local and foreign universities, respectively, while 30% were provided with permanent jobs. Seyidzade informed that SABAH groups currently operate in 12 universities of the country, adding that ASOIU is the only university among higher education institutions with the increased number of specializations. Seyidzade noted that other universities either cut down or completely canceled some of their specializations.
In conclusion, students received answers to their questions.
