On June 14, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) held an event to mark the National Salvation Day. The event was attended by Rector of ASOIU, Professor Mustafa Babanli, members of Parliament Eldar Ibrahimov and Huseynbala Miralamov, as well as the faculty staff and students of the university.
Participants first laid a wreath at the bust to great leader Heydar Aliyev in the university and honored his dear memory.
The event commenced with the national anthem of Azerbaijan. Opening the event, ASOIU Rector, Professor Babanli spoke about the importance of June 15 – National Salvation Day in the history of Azerbaijan. He mentioned the process of starting the state establishment after the return of national leader Heydar Aliyev to power in 1993, who at that time saved the country from the danger of civil war and disintegration, thereby ensuring its independence. Rector Babanli also stressed national leader Heydar Aliyev’s historical merits that enabled Azerbaijan to gain independence and get recognized in the whole world. He noted that this policy is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.
MP Eldar Ibrahimov congratulated the attendees on the occasion of the National Salvation Day. He spoke about the situation and political disagreements of that period which he directly witnessed. Ibrahimov said at such a difficult time, thanks to his salvation mission, great leader Heydar Aliyev saved Azerbaijan from the danger of being completely erased from the world political map and stressed that, as a result of his exceptional services, the people and the country were free of the deep socio-political and economic crisis, our independence grew stronger, our state achieved success in all spheres.
ASOIU Professor, MP Huseynbala Miralamov also spoke about great leader Heydar Aliyev’s works for the people and the nation, his political strategy. MP emphasized that Azerbaijan gained independence thanks to Heydar Aliyev’s farsighted policy and accomplished to preserve this independence by virtue of his decent successor President Ilham Aliyev.
It is noteworthy that by the decision of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated June 27, 1997, the day when Heydar Aliyev came to power is officially marked as the National Salvation Day of the people of Azerbaijan.
