Forty students of UFAZ attend Summer School in Strasbourg

Forty students of the Azerbaijani-French University under Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) went on a two-week Summer School in Strasbourg. Starting from June 30, students joined intensive French language courses, visited several scientific labs of the University of Strasbourg. Within the framework of the cultural program during their stay in France, students had field trips to the Council of Europe and the European Parliament, where they got familiar with the activities of these organizations.     

UFAZ Executive Director, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov and several UFAZ teachers traveled to Strasbourg together with students-participants of the Summer School. On the second week of the Summer School, UFAZ students met with Michel Deneken, President of the University of Strasbourg, and other university representatives. UFAZ Director, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov expressed his gratitude to President of the University of Strasbourg Michel Deneken for the attention to students, high value to the Summer School and the UFAZ project as a whole. Michel Deneken had a very sincere conversation with UFAZ students. He noted that they are also students of the University of Strasbourg. President of the University of Strasbourg said this year’s Summer School coincides with the centennial of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. He was honored to underline that de facto recognition of ADR as an independent state took place in the French capital Paris, which is of great importance.  

While on a visit in Strasbourg, UFAZ Director, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov held meetings with President of the University of Strasbourg Michel Deneken, Vice-President for International Relations Irini Jacoberger, Vice-President Philippe Turek, Director of the Faculty of Chemistry Jean-Marc Planeix, as well as UFAZ coordinator at Unistra Eckhart Hotzel and UFAZ science expert Pierre Collet. The sides discussed future prospects of UFAZ and other related issues.   

Sending forty students from UFAZ to a summer school in Strasbourg has now become a tradition. Forty first-year and second-year students with the highest grades in the academic year 2017/2018, had a chance to practice the French language, enrich their knowledge of the field of study, as well as laboratory classes. They also returned to Azerbaijan having relaxed within a specially organized cultural program. Representatives of the University of Strasbourg were pleased to note that students-participants of the Summer School were very intellectual and attentive in classes.
