Seminar on “Digital technologies in the history of civilizations” held at UFAZ  

On September 10, French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) under Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) hosted the first seminar of the academic year on “Digital technologies in the history of civilizations” by Dr. Pierre Mounier-Kuhn, researcher at the National Center for Scientific Research and Sorbonne University, adjunct professor at the Alexandre Koyre Center.

The event was attended by Ambassador of France to Azerbaijan Aurelia Bouchez, UFAZ Executive Director Vazeh Asgarov, UFAZ Secretary General Charlotte Payen, students, faculty staff from UFAZ and other universities.

Dr. Pierre Mounier-Kuhn spoke about the history of emergence of information technology and its importance for the development of science. He also highlighted the role of women in this field. Dr. Kuhn said the 1960-70s were the “Golden era” in computer science for women, adding that this activeness gradually dropped in the following years.

At the end of the seminar, Dr. Pierre Mounier-Kuhn responded to the questions of the audience.
