On October 23, an event dedicated to the 110th anniversary of a prominent scientist, Academician Murtuza Nagiyev was held at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU). The opening ceremony of the auditorium named after prominent chemist scientist at ASOIU was held within the framework of the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev "On the 110th Anniversary of Academician Murtuza Nagiyev".
Making a speech at the event, Rector of ASOIU, Professor Mustafa Babanli stressed that academician Murtuza Nagiyev has a special place among the graduates of AzII who raised the fame of Azerbaijan science to worldwide. Noting that the memory of academician M. Nagiyev is always remembered at ASOIU, Rector M.Babanlı pointed out that alongside studying at AZII, the prominent scientist also worked as an Associate Professor at this university for some time in the 40s of the last century. Rector M. Babanli noted that the life and scientific activity of the scientist, who made an unprecedented contribution to the development of oil chemistry not only in Azerbaijan but the whole world, is an example for every teacher and the student. M. Babanli emphasized that according to President’s order holding a number of events on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the prominent scientist in 2018 is a sign of the great attention and care of the President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev to science and education in the country.
In his speech, head of the Oil and Chemical Technologies and Industrial Ecology Department of Chemical Technology Faculty, Doctor of technical sciences, Professor Alakbar Hasanov stated that the establishment and development of the theory of Chemistry and Technology as a new science is connected with the name of the academician Murtuza Nagiyev. Noting that the founder of the theory of recirculation processes is the prominent scientist, Professor A. Hasanov spoke about the about the scientific activity of the chemist scientist.
Making a speech, director of the Institute of Chemistry of Addictive of ANAS, academician Vagif Farzaliyev mentioned Murtuza Nagiyev's exceptional services in the development of chemistry in Azerbaijan, and certificate of authorship in chemistry that he received during his student years. Saying that the scientist first time submitted the theory of optimization and super optimization, Farzaliyev noted that today the academician's scientific activity is a valuable source and example for young researchers.
Later, a postgraduate student Elnur Jabrayilzadeh, and a third-year student of ASOIU Aydin Samafov who receives a scholarship named after academician Murtuza Nagiyev noted that they are proud to be awarded such scholarship and understanding its responsibility working persistently.
Later, the son of the prominent scientist, the vice-president of ANAS, director of the Azerbaijan National Encyclopedia Scientific Center, academician Tofig Nagiyev delivered a speech and expressed his gratitude to the organizers and participants of the event. Talking about the chemist's life and chemical science, T. Nagiyev stressed that his father always had a special sympathy for AZII.
Note that, auditorium named after academician Murtuza Nagiyev was presented to the balance of the Oil and Chemical Technologies and Industrial Ecology and Chemistry department of ASOIU and were launched into usage for students.
