Swiss State Secretary for Education, Research and Innovation visited UFAZ

On October 29, 2018, Swiss State Secretary for Education, Research and Innovation, Mauro Dell’Ambrogio gave a lecture at French-Azerbaijani University on “From education to innovation” during his first official visit to Azerbaijan.

The Ambassador of Switzerland to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Philipp Stalder, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Switzerland, Khanim Ibrahimova, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Education, Mukhtar Mammadov, Rector of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Professor Mustafa Babanlı, UFAZ Director, Associate Professor Vazeh Askarov and UFAZ Secretary General Charlotte Payen attended the lecture.

Before the lecture, guests got acquainted with UFAZ premises (including chemistry and physics laboratories) and received comprehensive information about the University.

Expressing satisfaction with welcoming the guest at the university, UFAZ Director, Associate Professor Vazeh Askerov mentioned that the lecture will be beneficial for UFAZ students.

Discussing Swiss education system State Secretary Mauro Dell'Ambrogio noted that primary education is compulsory and that students, afterward, are free to continue either on vocational education and training or senior high school depending on their choice where the former is preferred by 70 percent of students. State Secretary emphasized the advantages of this system as young people are talented in different ways and thus, education based on self-confidence and success. Also, companies offer apprentices in accordance with the forecast of qualified jobs in the future. State secretary Mauro Dell'Ambrogio also mentioned that Swiss Minister of Finance and other prominent individuals graduated from these type of schools.

Finally, Swiss State Secretary Mauro Dell’Ambrogio answered the questions of students.
