First place awarded to ASOIU Student Team in "Mission:2030 Hackathon"

From July 27 to 29, 2023, the "Mission:2030 Hackathon" was held in Mingachevir City as part of the Youth Sustainable Development Goals project by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, and dedicated to the revitalization and rebuilding of Karabakh. A total of 310 young participants applied for the hackathon, from whom 100 active youths were selected, forming 25 teams. Over a span of two days, these teams presented 25 innovative and sustainable solutions across 5 topics, all aimed at the continuous development of Karabakh.

To enhance their ideas and presentations, the teams benefited from mentor support and advice. Among the mentors were representatives from 7 relevant government agencies, the special representation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the liberated territories from the occupation in the Karabakh Economic Region (city of Shusha), the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, "Azercosmos," the Center for Geographical Information Systems, the Agrarian Innovation Center, young diplomats from SEC, educational workers, and entrepreneurs, comprising a delegation of 12 individuals.

The winners were acknowledged with cash prizes and diplomas, receiving 5,000 AZN, 3,000 AZN, and 2,000 AZN, respectively. The winning projects were classified under ensuring food security in Karabakh and establishing safe, sustainable, and smart cities in Karabakh. The team securing first place was the "Enigma" team, consisting of 2 SABAH students from ASOIU, Jahid Jabizadeh and Tuncay Iskandarli, 1 UFAZ student, Abid Gurbanov, and 1 BMU student, Nabi Shirinov, with their "MyAgri" idea. As winners, the "Enigma" team members have been granted the opportunity to participate in the SDG Summit in New York City in September at the UN Headquarters.
