On December 6, the opening ceremony of the Career Center was held at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU). The event, attended by the heads of leading public and private, local, and international companies, featured an exhibition where ASOIU’s acting rector, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov, spoke about the university’s achievements in industry-university collaboration. He expressed confidence that the establishment of the Career Center marked a new chapter in strengthening such partnerships.
As part of the opening ceremony, a Career Fair was organized at ASOIU with the participation of around 40 companies. The fair was held within the framework of the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World.” At the opening ceremony, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov highlighted that ASOIU currently collaborates with over 700 companies, providing more than 3,000 students each year with the opportunity to enhance their theoretical knowledge through industrial internships. He also noted that hundreds of students have been winners of paid internship programs. Asgarov emphasized that ASOIU has seen a consistent rise in international rankings over the past two years, attributing this success to the university’s strong reputation among employers.
Following the opening remarks, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov and guests, including representatives from SOCAR, BP Energies, Alstom, Halliburton, Azel Systems LLC, SOCAR Fugro, and CBM Engineering, visited the stands of companies participating in the career fair. They explored the job and internship opportunities offered to students and graduates.
A roundtable discussion was held during the fair, involving university and industry representatives, to explore ways to expand collaboration. Discussions touched upon the inclusion of several Azerbaijani universities, including ASOIU, in international rankings, highlighting its significance for improving the quality of higher education and enhancing Azerbaijan's international reputation. Participants stressed the need for employers to play a more active role in contributing to the development of national education. The roundtable concluded with the establishment of the Council for Education Development at ASOIU, aimed at ensuring the alignment of education with the requirements of modern industry, the economy, and the labor market.
Additionally, as part of the career fair, representatives of Schlumberger, Deloitte, and Azercell conducted training sessions for ASOIU and UFAZ students on topics such as “Technical Skills,” “Interview and CV Preparation,” and “Job and Internship Opportunities at Azercell.” UFAZ master’s programs were also presented during the event.
