ASOIU representatives conduct business visit to the Russian Federation

From October 21 to 25, 2024, a delegation of Azerbaijan's leading universities visited Moscow and Saint Petersburg in the Russian Federation, organized by the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan. ASOIU was represented by the Head of the Department of General and Applied Mathematics, Honored Scientist of Azerbaijan, Professor Araz Aliyev, and International Project Manager Orkhan Nabiyev.

On the first day, the delegation held meetings at Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) to discuss areas of academic monitoring, quality assurance, and international collaboration. Discussions with the heads of the Chemistry, Geology, History, and Foreign Languages faculties focused on developing a roadmap for academic cooperation, enhancing participation in international QS rankings, and strengthening educational partnerships.

As part of the visit, ASOIU representatives also met with officials from the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, discussing joint scientific projects, student and faculty exchange programs, and potential collaborative involvement in ASOIU’s 105th-anniversary celebrations in 2025.

During the Saint Petersburg leg of the visit on October 24-25, ASOIU delegates met with representatives from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, ITMO University, and Saint Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design. The discussions centred around collaboration in QS rankings, joint research in IT, chemical technologies, and alternative energy, as well as student-faculty exchanges. An agreement was reached to draft a roadmap for future collaborations with Saint Petersburg State University.

As a result of these discussions, significant progress was made toward establishing new academic and cultural partnerships with Russian universities. The meetings underscored the importance of expanding international relations in Azerbaijan's higher education sector, ensuring high-quality educational standards, and advancing scientific cooperation.
