On February 20, an infosession on the StudentPlus card was held at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU).
Rector of ASOIU, Associate Professor Rufat Azizov, delivered the opening speech, welcoming the guests and highlighting the importance of the project in enhancing students' social engagement. He emphasized the state’s efforts to improve access to higher education and foster scientific and innovation activities, noting that the StudentPlus card is an innovative initiative that benefits students. The rector also underlined the vast opportunities available for students in Azerbaijan, praising the contributions of the Education Development Fund to the advancement of education. He expressed confidence in the Fund’s continued success in supporting the sector.
Chairman of the Board of the Education Development Fund, Elnur Nasibov, spoke about significant efforts to enhance the content of education and the strong support of the country's leadership for such initiatives. He elaborated on the idea and purpose behind the StudentPlus project, emphasizing that the card aims to provide students across the country with equal access to discounts and benefits while also supporting their social well-being. He noted that 190,000 students from 23 partner universities—covering undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs—are being provided with StudentPlus cards. He also highlighted that institutions in Nakhchivan, Ganja, Mingachevir, and Lankaran are included in the initiative.
Chairman of the Azerbaijan Education Workers Free Trade Union (ATIAHI), Araz Pashayev, discussed the union’s activities, noting that the ATIAHI Republican Committee consistently supports educational development through new projects. He emphasized the union’s commitment to ensuring accessibility for its members and its involvement in innovative projects in the education sector. Reflecting on the cooperation memorandum signed last year between ATIAHI and the Education Development Fund, he expressed satisfaction with their strengthened partnership and support for the StudentPlus initiative.
Director of CELT Training and Development Center, Khayyam Damirov, expressed his delight in participating in the event at ASOIU and emphasized the center’s pride in being a partner of a student-focused initiative. Following his speech, CELT representatives Narmina Abdullayeva and Farid Karimov delivered a presentation about the center.
It should be noted that the StudentPlus project is implemented as a joint initiative of the Education Development Fund, Kapital Bank, and the international payment technology company Visa. The project aims to provide students with equal access to discounts and benefits while enhancing their financial accessibility, helping them manage their daily expenses more efficiently, and supporting their social lives.
