SDGs at ASOIU

Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) is firmly committed to promoting Sustainable Development Goal 5 – Gender Equality, which seeks to achieve equality and empower all women and girls in every aspect of social, economic, and academic life. As one of Azerbaijan’s leading higher education institutions in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), ASOIU recognizes its vital role in breaking gender barriers and fostering an inclusive environment where women can thrive as students, researchers, and leaders.

ASOIU’s gender equality strategy is built upon the principles of equal opportunity, inclusiveness, and empowerment. The university actively works to ensure that women have equitable access to higher education, academic careers, leadership positions, and research opportunities. This commitment is reflected in ASOIU’s transparent recruitment policies, gender-balanced admission practices, and support mechanisms for both students and staff.

ASOIU integrates gender awareness and equality principles into its academic curriculum, student life, and governance. Training sessions, public lectures, and awareness campaigns address topics such as workplace equality, leadership skills for women, and the prevention of gender-based discrimination and harassment. Additionally, the university ensures equal pay for equal work, inclusive decision-making processes, and family-friendly policies that support female academics and staff balancing professional and personal responsibilities.
