Sustainable Development Goal 1 (SDG 1) aims to end poverty in all its forms everywhere. At Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, this goal is approached not only as a global humanitarian priority but also as a key dimension of the university’s social responsibility and inclusive education mission. ASOIU recognizes that poverty is a multidimensional issue—linked to education, employment, access to resources, and social inclusion—and therefore addresses it through integrated academic, social, and community initiatives.
ASOIU’s vision for SDG 1 aligns with its broader institutional strategy to ensure that no student, staff member, or community partner is left behind due to economic hardship. The university develops targeted programs to support financial inclusion, equitable access to education, and economic empowerment, especially for students from low-income backgrounds. These include need-based scholarships, tuition waivers, meal and housing support schemes, and part-time employment opportunities within university units.
