Rector of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) Professor Mustafa Babanli met on June 5 with Azad Jafarli, Regional Sales Director of China’s leading ICT provider - “Huawei”.
Collaboration in the field of Information and communications technology (ICT) and application of innovations, development of ICT skills of students at ASOIU and cooperation perspectives were discussed at the meeting.
Rector of ASOIU Professor Mustafa Babanli brought to notice that he attaches high value to cooperation with “Huawei” and noted that the company is one of the leading participants in IT sector. Speaking about rapid changes in IT industry, Rector M. Babanli underlined that the training of students, teaching of 10 subjects, selection of new topics at the university, as well as close cooperation with ASOIU Startup school should be carried out in conformity with this development rate.
“IT topics must often be changed. We must develop the university’s IT sector together. We should put education and science as a priority. Then comes production and innovations. We want to bring innovative business to our university.” – said Rector M. Babanli.
Afterward, Rector M. Babanli stated that he wants “Huawei”s “Smart Campus” system to be applied in ASOIU, saying that the cooperation of IT academies of both sides will bring positive results.
There are enough opportunities for ample collaboration with ASOIU, said Azad Jafarli, Regional Sales Director of “Huawei”, and noted the importance of creating a workforce and leading close cooperation with the university’s IT department.
Notably, “Huawei” is one of the world’s largest tech companies which has branches in over 100 countries. Every year the company spends more than 1.2 billion USD for scientific research in the area of High Technologies. “Huawei” is among the world’s leaders with the number of patents in High Technologies. Over the past years, the company has succeeded to increase the sale capacity of smartphones under the “Huawei” brand.
