A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), the Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS), and the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU).
At the signing ceremony held at "SOCAR Tower" with the participation of the leadership teams of SOCAR and ASOIU, the significance of the Memorandum of Understanding was highlighted in terms of expanding existing cooperation ties between the educational institutions. It was emphasized that the document would provide valuable contributions to strengthening competitive human capital and highly qualified personnel potential in the country.
In her speech, SOCAR Vice President Ziba Mustafayeva highlighted the significance of the Target Operating Model introduced at SOCAR in 2023, emphasizing the crucial role of human capital in the success of ongoing projects. She also detailed the initiatives SOCAR is undertaking to develop human capital.
The Vice President discussed SOCAR's commitment to its social responsibility by ensuring employment in the country, improving the material and technical base of higher education institutions, and elevating the research and learning environment to an optimal level through successful collaborations.
Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov, Acting Rector of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, noted that the reforms being carried out in the higher education sector in the country were also being effectively implemented at ASOIU. He assessed ASOIU's ranking of 1000-1200th in the 2024 QS Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings and 2nd among Azerbaijani universities as international recognition of the university's achievements. Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov stated that the main task of ASOIU is to make significant contributions to the development of competitive human capital for the Republic of Azerbaijan through the expanding cooperation between ASOIU and SOCAR.
Furthermore, the contributions of ASOIU to the country's oil industry were discussed, and steps to be taken within the framework of cooperation were deliberated.
During the event, the significance of various educational programs implemented by SOCAR was highlighted, with special emphasis on the employment opportunities at SOCAR for promising young individuals distinguished by their high knowledge and skills.
The meeting also reviewed existing and potential cooperation opportunities in training, teaching, industrial practice, and scientific research, and exchanged views on various topics of mutual interest.
