On September 25, a report meeting was held at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) with the delegation of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the World University Rankings organization.
Associate Professor Ulviyya Abbasova, Vice-Rector for International Relations at ASOIU, emphasized the significance of the meeting and the university’s strong position in the QS rankings.
The event was attended by ASOIU’s QS working group, Dara Bukhtoyarova, QS Regional Consulting Projects Coordinator; Veronica Omeni, QS Principal Consultant; Nilly Castano and Zaeem Siddiqui, senior consultants.
Dara Bukhtoyarova, acknowledging ASOIU’s achievements, delivered a presentation on the methodology of global and European university rankings, the work carried out by universities in this regard, and the future activities.
QS Principal Consultant Veronica Omeni provided statistics on the country’s scientific publications, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement. The delegation also conducted a comparative analysis of ASOIU with similar global universities and discussed the importance of collaboration in rankings, internationalization, and scientific development, offering recommendations.
The meeting included discussions on the development goals and upcoming tasks related to the “QS Sustainability Ranking.”
It should be noted that a few days ago, ASOIU signed a cooperation agreement with QS, one of the most prestigious ranking organizations, for the next five years. ASOIU continues to improve its position in international rankings, including QS. In the QS World University Rankings for 2024, ASOIU was ranked 1201-1400, while for 2025, it advanced to 1001-1200 globally and 2nd in Azerbaijan. Additionally, ASOIU is ranked among the top 500 universities worldwide for employability.
