On September 27, a commemoration event dedicated to Remembrance Day was held at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU).
The event was attended by ASOIU Acting Rector, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov, the university's academic staff, students, as well as families and relatives of the martyr alumni. The event began with the laying of flowers at the memorial complex dedicated to the alumni who were martyred in the Patriotic War and the statue of National Hero Mubariz Ibrahimov.
The ceremony continued in the university’s assembly hall, where the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played, and a minute of silence was observed in memory of the national leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the 44-day Patriotic War.
Following this, the documentary film “Heroes Who Made History,” dedicated to ASOIU's martyred alumni, was screened.
In his opening speech, Acting Rector Vazeh Asgarov emphasized that September 27, Remembrance Day, marks a historic day that laid the foundation for the great Victory, a testament to Azerbaijan's military-political strength and solidarity. He highlighted that the 44-day Patriotic War, which is inscribed in the history of Azerbaijan as a brilliant chapter, demonstrated the country's military power and the just fight of the Azerbaijani Army for its ancestral lands. Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov affirmed that the memory of the martyrs of the Patriotic War, including ASOIU’s 23 martyr alumni, will always be held in the highest esteem.
The families and relatives of the martyrs also spoke at the event, expressing their deep gratitude to the university leadership for the respect and care shown towards the university’s fallen heroes.
The event concluded with a performance of the dance "Hardasan" by the soloist of the "Ganjlik" Song and Dance Ensemble.
