Meeting held with ASOIU students on “The Role of Solidarity in the Revival of Karabakh”

On October 1, a meeting was held at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) with students on the topic “The Role of Solidarity in the Revival of Karabakh” aimed at raising awareness among young people.

The meeting, organized by the Karabakh Revival Fund (KRF) and held as part of the “#KarabakhTalks” discussion platform, was attended by ASOIU’s Acting Rector, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov, Chairman of the KRF Executive Board Rahman Hajiyev, well-known footballer Gara Garayev, originally from Karabakh, as well as ASOIU academic staff and nearly 300 students.

The event began with a moment of silence in honour of the martyrs who gave their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our homeland, followed by the playing of the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In his opening speech, ASOIU’s Acting Rector, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov, provided extensive information on the occupation policy pursued by the Armenians against the Azerbaijani people.

Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov also spoke about the key tasks ahead following the historic victory in the Patriotic War, emphasizing that young people and students bear great responsibility in this area. The participation of students in discussions and events related to the reconstruction of Karabakh was recognized as commendable.

Rahman Hajiyev, Chairman of the KRF Executive Board delivered a presentation, providing detailed information to the participants about the activities of the Fund, which was established by the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on January 4, 2021, as well as about the ongoing projects and future plans in the liberated territories.

The chairman of the KRF Executive Board noted that the liberated territories had suffered significant damage from the Armenian occupation and emphasized the importance of demonstrating solidarity to quickly eliminate the consequences of this damage and transform Karabakh into a prosperous region.

Speaking about the role of students and young people in the restoration of the liberated territories, Rahman Hajiyev emphasized the significance of regular meetings between the Fund and students in this regard.

Well-known footballer Gara Garayev, who also spoke at the event, said that he was proud to contribute to the revival of his native Karabakh as an ambassador of the Karabakh Revival Fund. He called on the youth to be more active in the restoration of the liberated territories and in conveying the truth about Karabakh to the global community.

A video showcasing the restoration and reconstruction work in the liberated territories was also presented during the event.

The meeting continued with a question-and-answer session, where ASOIU Acting Rector Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov, Chairman of the KRF Executive Board Rahman Hajiyev, and footballer Gara Garayev answered numerous questions from the students.
