On October 25, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) held a commemoration event honouring martyr Ulvi Rafiyev.
The event began with the playing of Azerbaijan's national anthem, followed by a moment of silence to honour National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the 44-day Patriotic War.
Associate Professor Ilham Rustamov, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, opened the ceremony by welcoming the attendees. He emphasized that holding such events in memory of the faculty’s martyr Ulvi Rafiyev reflects the deep respect for the martyrs’ legacy. He spoke about efforts to perpetuate the memory of the university's fallen alumni, stressing that honouring them is a duty for all.
Chairman of the ASOIU Student Trade Union Committee, Namig Ganjayev, highlighted Ulvi Rafiyev’s contributions as an active member of the university's “Ganjlik” music and dance ensemble and noted that his name, along with those of ASOIU's 23 martyr alumni, is held in high esteem at the university.
Following the screening of a video dedicated to Ulvi Rafiyev, Management Department instructor Esmira Mammadova and Humanitarian Disciplines Department instructor Narmina Amirbeyova shared personal memories of him, remarking that the heroes who wrote the glorious history of victory will always live on in the hearts of the Azerbaijani people.
Ismayil Hajiyev, Chairman of the Faculty of Economics and Management’s Student Trade Union, expressed gratitude to the organizers for their support in realizing the event and reaffirmed that heroes like Ulvi Rafiyev will never be forgotten.
