Minister of Guinea-Bissau, AzII alumni, visits ASOIU

On November 7, Viriato Luis Soares Cassama, Minister of Environment, Biodiversity and Climate Action of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, who is visiting our country within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, visited the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU).

Acting Rector of ASOIU, Associate Professor Vazeh Askarov expressed his pleasure in welcoming Viriato Luis Soares Cassama, one of the distinguished alumni of AzII (ASOIU). While briefing the guest about the current education and teaching process and scientific achievements at ASOIU, Associate Professor Vazeh Askarov mentioned that AzII alumni have achieved significant success in many countries around the world, as well as in Azerbaijan. He emphasized that it brings great joy when AzII alumni visit their alma mater.

The guests first familiarized themselves with the university's material and technical facilities, visited the AzII e-Book House and Mineralogy Museum, toured the chemistry laboratories, and visited the auditorium named after academician Azad Mirzajanzade.

The minister expressed his pleasure in returning to his alma mater after many years and stated his belief that Azerbaijani universities can make significant contributions to COP29 events and, in general, to the fight against climate change within the framework of COP29.

It should be noted that Viriato Luis Soares Cassama studied at the Faculty of Chemistry at AzII from 1989 to 1992.
