From November 4 to 8, a team of professors and faculty members from Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) was on a research mission in Karabakh. The purpose of this mission was to conduct fieldwork and apply artificial intelligence to the data collected as part of the “Innovative Assessment of Climate Change Impact on Karabakh’s Water Resources” project, funded by the Azerbaijan Science Foundation under the “Karabakh is Azerbaijan-2!” grant competition (AEF-MQM-QA-2-2023-3(45)).

The research team included project leader Professor Latafat Gardashova, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs at ASOIU, as well as Maya Abdullayeva, Associate Professor of the Department of Petrochemical Technology and Industrial Ecology; Allahverdi Taghiyev, Lecturer of the Department of Oil and Gas Geology; Dr. Jamal Huseynov, Senior Lecturer in Aviation Meteorology at the National Aviation Academy; and Vasif Yahyayev, Senior Advisor in the Water and Water Management Facilities Monitoring Department of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency. Shamil Ahmadov, a doctoral student in Computer Science from ASOIU's Industrial and Economic Decision-Making and Intelligent Management Systems Research Laboratory, also joined the mission.

The team conducted scientific research in the Fuzuli, Zangilan, and Jabrayil regions of the Karabakh Economic Zone, performing various hydrological, hydrogeological, and meteorological studies to assess the current condition of rivers, springs, and kahrizes, with the assistance of ANAMA staff.

Additionally, the team visited a hydrometeorological station in Khankendi, where they reviewed restoration work funded by the Azerbaijan Science Foundation. Discussions were held with Vilayat Hasanov, Director of the Karabakh Regional Hydrometeorology Center, regarding the station's expedited reactivation. Furthermore, consultations were held with Anar Jabbarov, Head of Khankendi Sukanal District of ADSEA, on related matters.
