ASOIU hosts meeting with senior officials from QS International Ranking Agency

On November 19, the Acting Rector of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), Associate Professor Vazeh Askarov, met with senior officials from one of the world’s most prestigious ranking organizations, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) International Ranking Agency, including Senior Vice President Ben Sowter, Regional Director Sergey Khristolyubov, and Director of Analytics and Evaluation Leigh Kamolins.
The guests first toured the laboratories and computer rooms of the Azerbaijani French University (UFAZ), operating under ASOIU, where they observed the advanced educational and research facilities.
The meeting was also attended by the Director of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, Ulkar Sattarova, ASOIU’s Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, Professor Latafat Gardashova, and the Acting Executive Director of UFAZ, Latifa Nasibova. Discussions revolved around the achievements of Azerbaijan’s leading higher education institutions, including ASOIU’s successes in the QS rankings, and the growing collaboration between ASOIU and QS.
Associate Professor Vazeh Askarov emphasized that collaboration with QS opens up new international opportunities for the university. He added that ASOIU aims to rank even higher in QS rankings in the coming years by advancing education, teaching, and research excellence.
The QS representatives commended ASOIU’s adherence to modern pedagogical and scientific standards aligned with QS criteria. They noted that these improvements have contributed to ASOIU’s progress in the rankings, particularly highlighting the university’s significant academic advancements over the past two years.
The meeting concluded with discussions on future goals and collaborative prospects.
It should be noted that on November 18, QS announced the results of the “World’s Best Universities Ranking: Sustainability 2025” during a session in Baku. According to the latest results, ASOIU ranks 3rd among Azerbaijani universities and 1351-1400 globally.
