On January 30, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) held the first meeting of its Scientific Committee for 2025.
As per tradition, ASOIU’s Acting Rector, Associate Professor Vazeh Askarov, extended congratulations on behalf of the Committee members to Professor Tahir Jabbarov, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, on his milestone birthday, wishing him good health and continued success in his professional endeavors. He then announced the agenda items, which were subsequently approved by the Committee.
The meeting featured reports from Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, Professor Latafat Gardashova, on the outcomes of ASOIU’s scientific research activities in 2024, and from Dean of the Faculty of Energy Engineering, Associate Professor Aydın Aliyev, on the faculty’s annual performance.
In accordance with the agenda, the annual report of Associate Professor Sayami Huseynov, Vice-Rector for Administrative and Economic Affairs, was reviewed. This was followed by a detailed briefing from Associate Professor Yashar Hasanov, Dean for International Students, on the education status of international students and doctoral candidates.
Additionally, Career Center Director Gunash Ovsatova presented information on the regulation and activity directions of the "Academic Development Committee," which was subsequently approved by the Committee. Later, Elmar Guliyev, a representative from ASOIU’s Project Management Office, provided an update on the selection criteria and evaluation framework for exchange programs.
The meeting also included discussions on the approval of the "Young Scientists Association" regulations and other key matters, resulting in unanimous decisions. Concluding the session, Acting Rector Vazeh Askarov assessed the university's scientific achievements as satisfactory and issued directives on modernizing education and training, addressing challenges, enhancing achievements, and improving the overall learning environment at ASOIU.
