Ahead of the Novruz holiday, the Rector of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), Associate Professor Rufat Azizov, along with Vice-Rector for General Affairs Elnur Ismayilov and university staff, visited the families of ASOIU alumni who bravely gave their lives during the 44-day Patriotic War.

He emphasized that, under the leadership of President and Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s heroic sons liberated the country’s historical lands from nearly 30 years of occupation. He highlighted that thanks to their bravery, the Azerbaijani flag proudly waves across the entire sovereign nation. Rufat Azizov also reaffirmed that ASOIU maintains close ties with the families of its fallen heroes, who will always hold a special place within the university community.
The university delegation visited families not only in Baku but also in Gazakh, Aghstafa, Sheki, Oghuz, Neftchala, Salyan, and other regions. They extended their warmest holiday greetings, expressed their support, and paid respects at memorial complexes by laying flowers at the busts of the fallen heroes.
ASOIU honors the memory of its 23 martyr alumni, considering their families as an integral part of the university. During the meetings, the families expressed gratitude for the continued support, emphasizing that they cherish ASOIU as a second home, just as their sons once did.
