On April 4, a comprehensive training session on the “Web of Science” platform — one of the world’s most reputable and trusted scientometric databases — was held at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU). The aim of the event was to enhance the scientific research capabilities of the university’s academic staff and students, and to familiarize them more closely with international research tools.

The training was conducted by Iltifat Ibrahimov, the official representative of Clarivate in Azerbaijan. During his presentation, he introduced the key functions, advantages, and practical applications of the “Web of Science” platform in scientific research. The session provided an in-depth explanation of how to search for peer-reviewed journals, track citations, access information on impact factors, assess journal quality, and effectively use bibliometric indicators.

The event was also addressed by ASOIU’s Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, Professor Latafat Gardashova, and the university’s representative responsible for scientometric databases, Shamil Ahmadov. In their remarks, they emphasized the importance of such training sessions for the development of research activities at the university and spoke about the significance of expanding access to international scientific platforms.

Participants — including ASOIU’s faculty members, researchers, doctoral students, and master’s students — received detailed information on the effective use of the platform. Iltifat Ibrahimov also responded to numerous questions from the audience and shared practical recommendations regarding research and publication strategies.

Such initiatives play a crucial role in strengthening the research culture at the university, fostering integration of staff and students into the global academic environment, and improving ASOIU’s position in international academic rankings.
