On July 26, within the framework of the “Azerbaijan–Vietnam Days,” a formal meeting was held at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) with the participation of a Vietnamese delegation.
The event began with a visit and symbolic opening of the Ho Chi Minh Room. This room was established as a symbol of the long-standing diplomatic, educational, and cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam, as well as to commemorate the historic visit of Vietnam’s national leader Ho Chi Minh to Baku in 1959. During the visit, the delegation was acquainted with the historical and symbolic significance of the room, and media representatives were provided with filming opportunities.
The official meeting between ASOIU Rector, Associate Professor Rufat Azizov, and the Vietnamese delegation followed. The delegation included Mrs. Trinh Thi Thu Ha – Rector of the Vietnam Energy Institute (VINEN), Ms. Luu Thanh Hieu (Jelly) – Head of the International Relations Department at VINEN, representatives from the Hanoi College of Commerce and Tourism, as well as Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quynh, representing the Vietnam Chefs Association and the Hanoi UNESCO Travel Club.
During the meeting, the parties held discussions on the topic “Azerbaijan–Vietnam Cooperation in Education, Culture, and Sustainable Development.” They exchanged views on the historical educational ties between the two countries, opportunities for cultural collaboration, and scientific partnerships. Future cooperation initiatives were also discussed. Symbolic gifts were exchanged between the parties. The meeting concluded with a group photo in front of the bust of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
It is worth noting that throughout various periods, approximately 2,420 Vietnamese citizens have studied and graduated from ASOIU. Most of them received higher education in technical fields and made significant contributions to the strengthening of educational and friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam.
ASOIU’s involvement in such international initiatives plays a key role in expanding the university’s global network and fostering the development of strategic partnerships.
