A seminar titled “How Computers Understand Molecules: An Introduction to Chemoinformatics” will be organized at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) on May 8, 2026.
The main purpose of the seminar is to present modern approaches to the analysis of rapidly growing chemical data, explain the fundamental principles of chemoinformatics, and introduce participants to methods used in the calculation, analysis, and prediction of molecular properties. Special attention will be given to current topics such as representing molecules as mathematical objects, graphs, and descriptors.
The speaker of the seminar is Farah Asgerkhanova, Director of ASOIU’s Chemoinformatics and Computational Chemistry Group and a researcher in the field of chemoinformatics. She received her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from UFAZ, continued her master’s studies at UFAZ and the University of Strasbourg, and later earned her PhD in Chemoinformatics from the University of Strasbourg. Her research interests include QSPR/QSAR modeling, chemical space analysis, and molecular descriptors.
