Seminar on geology field to be held at ASOIU

A seminar titled “Timescale of Fluid Migration in Orogenic Foreland Basin” will be held at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) on 7 May 2026 at 16:30 inRoom 250.

The speaker of the seminar will be Akbar Huseynov, a geologist at BP Azerbaijan. He holds a PhD from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and was also a fellow of the FluidNET Consortium’s Marie Curie Actions (H2020) Innovative Training Network. Akbar Huseynov specializes in structural geology and the geochemistry of veins.

The seminar will explore fluid flows associated with the Variscan Orogeny, regarded as one of the major geological events related to ore formation in Europe. The research was conducted based on field mapping of quartz veins in Variscan foreland basins located in Germany and Portugal, combined with geochemical, isotopic, and geochronological analyses.

It should be noted that the seminar will be of particular interest to participants wishing to become acquainted with modern scientific approaches in the fields of geology, tectonics, and geochemistry, as well as to gain insight into research findings based on international experience.
