9-11 graders of the secondary school No. 284 named after Gamat Abbasov in Binagadi district, Baku made a field trip to Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) on February 8.

Pupils started their excursion from the ASOIU History Museum and became acquainted with the exhibits about the university and oil history. ASOIU Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, Associate Professor Ata Babayev thoroughly informed the schoolchildren about the history of the university, its activities in different periods, honorary alumni and Azerbaijan’s oil history.

Later, pupils became familiar with the Heydar Aliyev lecture hall and were informed about the rich heritage of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

Then, pupils visited the Museum of Mineralogy of the university that stores rich mineral exhibits and familiarized themselves with various mineral species gathered in the museum. Director of the museum, Associate Professor of the Department of Geology and Development of Mineral Deposits provided the schoolchildren with comprehensive information on the names of minerals, their chemical content, and deposits where they were found.

In conclusion, pupils were at the laboratory of the Department of Technology of Organic Substances and High Molecular Compounds.
