The presentation of Baku Marathon 2018, to be organized following the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, was held at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) on April 6.
The event was attended by ASOIU Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, Associate Professor Ata Babayev, founder of the Baku Marathon Club Firdovsi Karimov, representatives of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and students.
Opening the event, ASOIU Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, Associate Professor Ata Babayev spoke about the significance of the Baku Marathon 2018 project for the youth. Associate Professor Babayev invited students to join this social project which aims to advocate healthy lifestyle and bring people together around benevolent deeds.
Founder of the Baku Marathon Club Firdovsi Karimov made a speech with a video clip on the Baku marathon held under the slogan “Conquer the Wind” and provided the attendees with comprehensive information on the competition. Speaking of the values and goals of the Baku Marathon 2018, which will take place for the third time in a consecutive fashion, Karimov stressed that 41% of the marathon runners last year were students.
The attendees were also informed of the participation requirements, registration process and awards.
Notably, the marathon will take place on May 13. Since the costs associated with the participation of students in the marathon will be covered by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, students will pay no fee at the time of registration.
Those willing to participate in the competition may apply to the registration points at trade centers of Baku (28 Mall, Ganjlik Mall, Port Baku Mall) or the website (www.baku.marathon.az) of the Baku Marathon-2018 until May 5.
