UFAZ holds final concert of Francophonie Week

On April 25 students of the Azerbaijani-French University (UFAZ) functioning under Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) organized a concert to mark the Francophonie holiday.

ASOIU Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli, French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Aurelia Bouchez, Ambassador of Morocco to Azerbaijan Mohamed Adil Ambarch, chair of Millennium project in Azerbaijan Reyhan Huseynova, representatives of the embassies of Belgium and Romania, Counsellor of the Minister of Economy Masim Mammadov, representatives of the French Cultural Institute, advisor to the CEO of the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan Republic Nargiz Nasrullayeva-Muduroglu, representative of the French Business Club in Azerbaijan Rauf Rafi, as well as the faculty staff and students attended the event.   

The event started with an exhibition, where members of UFAZ Animal Care Club organized charity sale of their art works. Notably, all the funds from the sale will be used for the medicines and food for homeless animals.

Welcoming the attendees, UFAZ Executive Director, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov and Secretary General Charlotte Payen spoke about the essence of the Francophonie holiday, history of the French language and Azerbaijan-France relations.

The event was then followed by a concert of UFAZ students. The guests listened to the unique mix of George Biset’s Carmen Habanera with “Carmen” song by Belgian singer Stromae, piano performance of “Comptine d’un autre été”, watched short fun videos edited by UFAZ students and some pieces from “Little Prince” and Bonny and Clyde”.

It is noteworthy that the event was sponsored by Bakcell, Landmark Hotel Baku, and the Azerbaijan-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with ADO Theatre Collective, French One-Man-Orchestra Filigan and the French Lyceum Baku.
